Full Art
card-typesA card where the artwork extends to the edges of the card, eliminating the standard yellow or colored border.
Full art cards are premium Pokemon cards where the illustration extends across the entire face of the card, replacing the standard bordered layout with an edge-to-edge artwork presentation. Unlike regular cards that confine the illustration to a small window surrounded by colored borders and text boxes, full art cards allow the artwork to fill the entire card surface, with attack information and stats overlaid directly on the illustration. This borderless design gives the cards a dramatically more striking and collectible appearance.
Full art cards were first introduced to the Pokemon TCG during the Black & White era and quickly became one of the most popular pull types among collectors. They typically feature Pokemon, Trainer characters, or Supporter cards rendered in a more detailed and dynamic art style than their standard counterparts. Many full art cards also incorporate textured foil or embossed surfaces that you can feel when running your finger across the card, adding a tactile premium quality that sets them apart from regular holos.
In terms of rarity and value, full art cards generally sit above standard holos and below the highest-tier secret rares. They are a mainstay of modern Pokemon sets, with each expansion typically including multiple full art variants of key Pokemon and Trainer cards. For collectors, full art cards represent an excellent balance between visual impact and attainability. They are beautiful display pieces that hold solid market value, especially when featuring popular Pokemon like Charizard, Pikachu, or Mewtwo. Graded full art cards in pristine condition are a cornerstone of many serious Pokemon card collections.
